Fire Horse Energy: Turning Self-Belief Into Aligned Action This Spring
Apr 06, 2026
One of the reasons why so many women struggle to move forward in midlife isn’t just a lack of confidence, clarity, or opportunities. It’s the absence of consistent, aligned action — the kind of action that actually reflects who you are now and who you want to become. The action you want to take, but somehow have struggled to fit into your day to day life up until now.
Over the past few weeks, in my fire horse series we've been exploring the transition from the reflective energy of the 2025 Wood Snake year into the forward-moving energy of the Fire Horse for 2026.
In each journal, we’ve moved through a clear progression of change — creating a structured path you can begin to follow in your own life. The previous one's have covered the following - so use the links to catch up on any you missed:
- letting go of what no longer fits
- closing old chapters
- moving forward without burnout
- learning to trust yourself again
- setting your boundaries to protect yourself
Each of these are essential steps in understanding your true self. But at some point you have to shift from the analysis stage and start taking appropriate action - because without "doing" nothing will ever change.
The Missing Step Between Intention and Change
This is where many women in midlife get stuck, especially when lives are busy and your focus is pulled so much into doing things for everybody else.
It is often the missing link between intention and real change. It isn’t that you’re lacking motivation or commitment — so don’t begin this process with blame. It's just that you haven’t yet found a way to translate intention into action.
What “Appropriate Action” Really Means?
Appropriate action is not about doing more.
It’s about taking action that is actually going to move you forward, in a way that feels:
• sustainable
• intentional
• and connected to who you are now and who you want to become.
This is where the Fire Horse energy becomes powerful.
Because the Horse represents movement, momentum, and forward direction - but it is up to you to create that forward momentum.
So taking the work you have done through the rest of this series, this should have given you the clarity needed to identify what "appropriate action" is likely to look like for you.
It is not taking a busy, scattered approach to your goals. But being more focussed in your choices, so that every action you take is bringing you a step closer to where you want to be and how you want to live.
The challenge often begins when you become impatient for change.
I've been there! When I came to this realisation about how out of sync my own life was, and how badly I had been neglecting my needs, I was impatient for change too... When you have that realisation that things in your life are not longer working for you, and you acknowledge what you want to change - its not surprising that you might want things to happen fast.
I had to tackle the desperation I felt, by realising that there was too much for me to change everything all at once - else I knew I would get despondent. By trying to rush, you will give yourself too big a hurdle, that is likely to lead to overwhelm.
Looking back on your own life you will probably see previous times where you have tried to change too much too quickly, and ended up defeated and giving up?
My own journey has taught me the importance of acknowledging what can be done quickly and what will take time.
It has also taught me that there will be times when you just need to keep going, because progress is not linear - not everything will work out as you expected and the skill is to continue to trust the momentum, even when you feel like giving up.
On a positive note, it generally doesn't take as long as you might think once you start to build some momentum - this is the cumulative effect of taking action!
Spring Equinox = the moment action becomes natural
As we move through this transition, it’s interesting to notice when we are approaching a change in the environmental seasons.
In the northern hemisphere the Spring Equinox has recently passed (the Spring Equinox marks the point where day and night are of equal length) and this is where we shift into the season of spring and the light begins to take over. In the UK we've just done our silly clock moving again, where we lose an hour of sleep because the clocks move forward. For us though this means the nights become lighter again after the darkness of our winter - dependant of course on whether the constant grey clouds lift!
Being British we have an obsession about the weather and the climate, it's probably because we so rarely see the sun - but it can also be why there is visible lift in peoples energies when our season shifts into Spring.
In many traditional / nature-based philosophies, this moment represents a shift from rest into growth. A point where the energy of winter (reflection, withdrawal, internal work) begins to give way to movement, expansion, and forward direction through growth.
After months of being more inward, something starts to change in the environment around us, and this can be an inspirational point in your own life by embracing the seasonal shifts of nature.
Even if the seasons are not as noticeable or you are in the southern hemisphere where there isn't that noticeable shift through 4 seasons - it is helpful to look for ways to embrace the subtle energies of the environment around you.
You don’t need to force yourself into action in the same way.
It is a more natural pull towards movement.

The Fire Horse: Movement With Direction And Focus
The energy of the Fire Horse is not about rushing around like a headless chicken, being busy for the sake of being busy.
It is about purposeful movement and this is exactly how aligned action works.
As someone who has spent years around horses, I have deep respect for the quality of movement and control in pace that a horse is capable of.
If you have every watched a dressage horse or a show jumper, you will be witness to the skill of the horse and rider working as a team - they do not win by rushing, it takes focus; direction and control.
As a rider the skill is also in knowing when to tighten the pace, when to sprint and when to soften and trust the horses instincts and skill.
The same approach is useful for creating change for yourself - when planning your goals and the action you need to take, consider more carefully:
- What needs to change instantly? Are there things that are holding you back that without dealing with them it is likely to impact detrimentally on everything else? These are your sprints, take quick action - not rash decisions, but clear and directional action.
- What things need careful consideration and a more focussed approach to change? These are where you need to trust yourself and take small steps, adapting as you go. They are likely to be areas where you might also be more fearful about the results - and thus need to take small steps to build your confidence.
Appropriate action is not doing a complete life overhaul in one swoop, but trusting your own instincts and taking honest decisions that you know will move you forward.
You can go as slowly or as quickly as your own pace needs, it is about what works for you and being consistent in your action.
This is something I focus on inside the teaching on my True Woman Rising Pathway — not just identifying what you want, but teaching the women I work with how to take consistent, aligned steps towards their goals. It is a supported community for women who want to change their lives, but have got stuck in the past procrastinating or starting and stopping because of failure.

What Appropriate Action Looks Like in Practice
This is a very personal thing to consider, and it will link back to your own goals and dreams - the way you want to live your life for now and the future. These will suggest the changes that you will need to make in order to get there and the steps that you will break this journey down into.
Appropriate action is not about doing everything all at once.
It’s about doing the right things, at the right pace, for the version of you that you are becoming.
This is where many women in midlife might go wrong in attempting to put action into practice.
They either:
• do nothing because they are stuck in overthinking
• or try to change everything at once (leading to burnout, overwhelm and finally giving up)
Appropriate action sits somewhere in between, it is:
Aligned
Deliberate
Focussed
and achievable for you right now.
In practice, this means learning to:
1. Act in Alignment with your Desires
Not every action should be driven by how you feel in the moment, nor how you feel you "should be".
There will be days where you feel motivated.
And days where you don’t.
Aligned action means continuing anyway — because you have decided this matters and you know that the effort will be worth it.
It is not giving up, even when it is hard or you are being distracted by other commitments. At times this is going to be hard, but that is why it has to be in alignment with your dreams and goals - it will be the vision of succeeding that is going to become the biggest incentive for you to keep going.
2. Reduce Overwhelm by Narrowing Your Focus
Instead of asking:
“What do I need to change in my whole life?”
Ask:
“What is the next step I can take that will move me forward?”
Breaking the task down into manageable steps will help you to build momentum and ultimately succeed in the bigger goals.
3. Build the Evidence for Self-Belief
Every small action you take becomes proof of success:
“I followed through with this”
“I managed to change this”
“I have done this without fail”
This is how confidence is rebuilt — not through thinking, but through action and seeing the results of that action.
You can also use times in your past where you have succeeded (no matter how small) as evidence to illustrate to yourself that you can do what is necessary.
4. Create Consistency to Build Momentum
Consistency is far more likely to create lasting change, than short bursts of effort that then burn you out and result in you giving up.
Consistency comes from creating habits, and at the beginning you need to be intentional in taking consistent action in order to establish these habits.
It is better to take:
• one small step daily
than
• one big step followed by stopping...
Momentum is built through repetition and cumulative success.
5. Choose Courage Over the Status Quo
Taking action will not always feel easy, especially if you have spent your life thus far saying yes to everyone else's needs and demands. So you will need to unlearn the habit of automatically saying "yes" to every request..
Sometimes it will feel uncomfortable:
Saying "no" to people
Doing something just for yourself
Prioritising you
That discomfort is often a sign you are moving in the right direction, but you will need to accept it and deal with it in order to take the necessary action.
Appropriate action is so powerful because it compounds over time into the realisation of your dreams and goals.
Over time, appropriate action - those single small steps, quietly transform your life.
